The backbone in each school consists of 12 strand fiber, coax and (75)Cat3/(25)Cat 5 voice connected to the buildings phone demarc, all run between the Main Distribution Frame and Intermediate Distribution frames. The Main Distribution Frame (MDF) room is connected to at least one Intermediate Distribution Frame room (IDF) on each floor of the school building. In the MDF a Modem/CSU communicates with the Modem/CSU in the Board office and passes data to a CISCO router, which, in turn, distributes data packets to an Ethernet Hub.
