Imagining Images

Imagining Images Application

Activity:

1. Ask students to open the Imaging Images applet. Then ask them to imagine an image for some or all of the types of images and for some or all of the four uses.

2. Ask students to provide the caption or context along with a description of the image so one can tell what it proves, exemplifies, expresses or decorates.

3. All answer can be printed - or the small textfiles created by students can be collected in a folder.

The Main Idea

To make sure that students have understood the concept of how to use images appropriately to support a persuasive presentation, an authentic assessment is needed. This applet asks them simply to imagine images and say in words what they would contain. If they have understood the ideas, asking them to describe an image should also prompt them to describe the context in which they would use the image.
