Imagining Movement
Activity:
1. Ask students to use the Imagining Movement applet to imagine a movement for some or all of the types of movement and for some or all of the four uses.
2. Ask students to provide the caption or context along with a description of the movement, if necessary, so one can tell what it illustrates, focuses on, expresses or decorates.
3. All answer can be printed - or the small text files created by students can be collected in a folder.
The Main Idea
To make sure that students have understood the concept of how to use movement appropriately to support a persuasive presentation, an authentic assessment is needed. This applet asks them simply to imagine movements and say in words what they would contain. The images provide a context for the use of movement. The same image is always used twice, so you can compare whether the students have really understood the difference between the two uses of movement for the same image.
