Images Can be Used for Different Purposes

Screen showing Images as Evidence

Activity:

This can be done as a whole class activity or by individuals.

Individuals:
Ask students to open the applet called IMAGES AS EVIDENCE and try to identify where each of the images is used as evidence. Ask them to keep track of how many of the 6 images they got right.

Whole class:
Show the applet and ask students to guess where the image is used as evidence. If there is disagreement, click on the wrong answers first, read the explanation out loud and ask if students understand it. Then click on the right answer and read the explanation.

The Main Idea

The difference between using an image as evidence and as example is the most difficult for students to understand. The little quiz is designed to give an explanation (since it describes why an image is AND is NOT evidence) and let students see whether they have understood the concept.
