Draw an Inventor Task

There are two versions of the "Draw an Inventor" Task -- Form A and Form B. For research purposes, we need to assign different forms for different sites to start and end with. Please check below for your location to know which forms your children need to complete at the start and end of your clubs.

Location Start of Class/Club End of Class/Club
Arizona Form A Form B
Michigan Form B Form A
New York Form B Form A
New Jersey Form A Form B
Northeastern Australia Form A Form B
Southeastern Australia Form B Form A
All Other Areas in United States Form B Form A
All Other Areas in Australia Form A Form B

To get children started on this activity, print out the form and photocopy it for children. Read aloud the instructions and encourage children to describe in words and drawings their responses. If they have questions about what you mean by inventor, be sure to encourage them to write and draw whatever comes to mind. The point of this activity is to understand children's conceptions of inventors -- who they think they are and what they do, which means not providing too much guidance.
