Thus, in one introductory college algebra class, students are asked to write a practical word problem related to their own life experiences and to include drawings, pictures, graphs or other models they think are necessary for conveying what they mean to other readers. At a local middle school, students are asked to explain how to make a line graph and to give an example of how it is used. These writing assignments are assessed for creative flow, technical competence, and critical thinking along with understanding of key mathematical concepts. With detailed feedback from Mathematics and English teachers online, students revise their writings and share their solutions with the academic community.
