Evidence
to Excellence Process Overview
The
Academy for Teaching Excellence has evolved into a comprehensive
professional development program for teachers in the United States.
It has evolved from an international program Schools Around
the World that has several participating countries doing similar
types of professional development through lesson study based around
the Evidence to Excellence process. In the United States, schools
and teachers participate in a variety of experiences that comprises
a sustained program of growth for practicing teachers.
The
ATE program is usually conducted over the course of two years but
it can be customized to the needs of districts. Some of these experiences
are gained through workshops held at the district level while others
are conducted through online seminars using web-based communication
tools; most teachers use both forms. Regardless of the format or
the duration, they all share a common four-step process that forms
the basis of these experiences. We call this process Evidence to
Excellence. Images from our face-to-face workshops and our online
seminars are included here.
Follow the link below to a very brief, condensed overview of the
Evidence to Excellence process. This overview will give you a context
for understanding how participation in ATE lesson study with its
workshops and case development that focus on sharing lesson assignments,
student work, assessment practices, and reflective discussions with
other teachers in your local area or from around the world.
